Mad King

The mad king sulks upon his throne
And stalks his empty halls alone
Looking for constant affirmation
That he alone is the only one
The only loved, he is the sun
The narcissist, the madness does consume him
The mad king rants to an empty room, how he alone can prevent the doom,that he alone has wrought upon the kingdom.
He is handsome, he is wise, but only in his diseased eyes
He sees himself as young and strong and fearsome

The emperor has no clothes
The empires in decline
Lost without direction
The King has lost his mind

The mad king preens and does his hair, he puts his make up on with care,
To boast and brag to the few left who believe him
No accomplishment save that of birth,
No stirling deeds to prove their worth
His family stands, no saving grace can find them

The subjects cry, to an ashen Sky, their sorrow does resound.
The desperate searching for a way, for salvation to be found
That there will come a day when the mad king falls
His body burned to ashes and there will be nothing left but scorn
No one will even mourn

The mad king sits alone again, the darkness creeping deep within
His souless eyes stare blankly into shadow
He mumbles to his perfect self
About his worth, about his wealth
But he’s empty, he is nothing more than ego.
